Should Higher Education be Available for Everyone?

Nowadays, education is important to sustain our life. Education has many positive impacts to the person, environment and even to the country we live in. Therefore, education should be highly considered to obtain. I personally believe that everyone should get any access to have higher education to give and obtain more values. Here are some values which may be experienced.

The equality to have a chance to get brighter future. There is also a powerful argument that university education should be free to ensure equality of opportunity. If students have to pay for university education, this may dissuade them. In theory, students could take out loans or work part-time, but this may be sufficient to discourage students from studying and instead may enter the job market earlier. Thus, the students with financial obstacles can achieve their dreams by attending higher education without any worries.

Higher education can increase the specialisation of work. High-educated workers face lower unemployment risk, earn higher wages, are presumably better informed and make wiser decisions than low-educated workers. Moreover, a high-skilled labor force may also foster economic growth through more productivity enhancing innovations and a better adoption of new technology (Greiff, 2013). Therefore, there is a greater need for skilled graduates who can contribute to these high-tech industries.

Higher educational background is one of categories of a developed country. According to (Rena, 2010), a well developed and equitable system of higher education that promotes quality learning as a consequence of both teaching and research is central for success in the emerging knowledge economy. It is widely acknowledged that education contributes significantly to economic development. Countries with high rates of university education generally have higher levels of innovation and productivity growth. Therefore, there is a justification for the government subsidising higher education.

Even though many people believe that higher education is privilege, but I believe that every education is a right for everyone.  Higher education is seen as a privilege and not a right, but not everyone has that privilege and the way higher education costs now, fewer people will be able to afford. Sure there’s aid, but it’s not enough to cover the rising costs without putting students into an insane amount of debt. There’s only a limited amount of money one can take out without having that extra stress in their lives, and not everyone can get their parents to pay or help take out loans.

I strongly believe that higher education will give us many benefits thus it should be available for everyone. Higher education is important to develop our own talents and preparing our future. Beside that, specialisation of work is also continuously developed and the country will be more valued when higher education is available for everyone.

Should We Live in Dormitory?

Going to be college student is interesting to manage our live by ourselves. Managing our time to study, making friends with others, and choosing a temporary place to live are the matters that often happen to college students. Choosing a place to live in may be so difficult when the candidates are so many. However, it doesn’t exist in President University because our campus offers dormitory as a comfortable place. I believe that all students should choose to live in the dormitory for the advantages that offered. Here are the reasons.

First, living in the dormitory will provide with a safe life. The dormitory is located close to the main campus. It only takes 5-8 minutes to the campus by walking. Therefore, the students should not take a long journey which means minimising the risks to happen. Additionally, the dormitory also has security service that always maintain the safety such as using CCTV, security men and security women that always keep up till the dawn, and having restricted area for any boys or any girls to enter. Not only that but also the opposite of dormitory is police office that serves us for 24 hours.

Second, the dormitory has many facilities to support. The dormitory provides sport facilities, public facilities and any personal facilities. Sport facilities that are available in the dormitory are volleyball court, basketball court, outdoor badminton court, and table tennis. Then, mini hall and bucks are the place to gather or do discussion and also mini market. While personal facilities are full-furnished room, shared wi-fi in every room, tv cable, mineral water, and cleaning service. Those facilitates are purposed for the students so that they do not have to go outside to fulfil their necessities.

Third, most parents will be comfort to leave their child living in the dormitory. Since there are so many facilities that I already stated above, I believe almost all parents will decide to ask their child to live in the dormitory. Parents will seek for any places to live that is comfortable enough and close to the campus. Then the worries level will become more declining for parents since the safety is fully considered in dormitory area.

Even though the dormitory rent fee is expensive, but the benefits that you experience will be worth. The fee is including all cost for maintenance and paying the human resources that provided by the management. We can do complaining for 24 hours if there is any wrongdoing or damage. Similar to the quotes that sometimes I partly agree “Money can buy happiness”. Thus, high rent fee is not really matter for those who need to be satisfy.

In conclusion, I believe that living in the dormitory gives so many benefits for all students. Due to the dormitory offers us a learning opportunity without any worries, because of the existence of some facilities. It makes your study will become more comfortable.

Go Reach Them!

Goal 1: Improving my writing skills in order to preparing to write thesis.

Goal 2: Increasing my IELTS score.

Goal 3: Able to fluently communicate in English in the future job.

One of important subject in 8th semester is English IV. English IV teaches us academic writing, so it always challenges us to do brainstorming once a week. However, I am not only attending the class by sitting down in the class for nothing, but also I hope I can pass this subjects which requires 3 credits. By passing these 3 credits, I believe I can reach the goals that I set such as improving my writing skills in order to preparing to write thesis, increasing IELTS score and able to fluently communicate in English in the future job.

Up to now, I think learning English IV has helped me to improve my writing skills in order to preparing to write thesis. Previously, I already knew that before we write the essay, we need to do pre-writing which consists of brainstorming. That was all I knew. I wrote the essay based on the outline I had made, but the supporting sentence still did not relate to the topic sentence. Thus, the paragraph might become not coherent. However, right now my knowledge about writing is increased due to learning in the class. Not only that but also weekly assignment gives us a lot of chance to practice. By learning in the class and practicing, I believe it supports to prepare writing thesis.

According to C.S Lewis, he said that “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream”, I believe that increasing IELTS as my other goals is not too late. Probably some people already took an IELTS test and got high score before they continue their study in the university. For me, even I ever took IELTS test and got only 4.5 when I was in 11th grade, I think by learning English IV is not too late to help me in the next IELTS test. I am planning to take IELTS test when I become a fresh-graduated. Thus, learning English IV can help me to learn about writing to prepare my IELTS test.

5 out of 9 companies in Indonesia are foreign companies that requires us to fluently communicate in English will pay its employee high, I personally think English IV can help me to fulfil future job requirement. In Indonesia, the most companies that willing to pay you high are mostly foreign companies. In addition, according to The World’s Largest Ranking of Countries by English Skills which conducted by EF United Kingdom, Indonesia is categorized as moderate proficiency that takes place as 32 out of 72 countries that use English as their second language. I should have a good competence in communicating with English to fulfil the requirements. Therefore, learning English IV which tells us how to write formally can help to communicate with my partner in the future job.

In conclusion, I have 3 goals which should be achieved after finishing this subject. Those three are important to support my future career. Not only that but also adopting myself with the dynamic world that always becomes more advanced.

[REVISED] Here is Your Future Internal Auditor

Aisya Nurasari, one of my best friends during my study in the university. Even though I have known her for a year as my dorm mate, I know several of her personalities. As far I know from the day to day in university life, she is responsible, critical, hard-worker and good at teamwork. She also has a good grade in her study that can support her career in the future. Moreover, Aisya had ever shared about the job life that she wants for her career as being free. By those characteristics I know,  personally think Aisya is good to become internal auditor.

My recommendation is going to be internal auditor. I personally believe that the responsible and critical person is good enough to become an internal auditor. Since internal auditor requires critical person, Aisya is good to observe and evaluate the problems that sometimes being hidden. When the problems occur, I think she can handle it until the problems are discovered and solved, because she always stays up until more than midnight in order to finishing the tasks. I believe Aisya will put much effort as usual like she does in every assignment she has. This is I refer as her responsible and hard worker character towards her job.

Second, Aisya is free teamworker. She is good in working with a team, having a good grade, and wants a free working atmosphere. Aisya has many organizational experience, which means she shall be having no problem if she works as internal auditor. Because of working in a team, as an internal auditor, woman will be more free. Since for man auditor is more likely to be assigned to go overseas while the woman only works in the main office, that is the teamwork in order to assign the job. This offer may be interesting for Aisya. Additionally, up to now she already achieved a good grade which can help her to become easily in discussing with her team.

Therefore by some reasons that I stated above, I suggest my friend, Aisya, to become internal auditor in the future. Hopefully, Aisya will consider my recommendation, if not, it is up to Aisya as long as it makes her enjoy in building her career.

Here is Your Future Internal Auditor

Aisya Nurasari, one of my best friends during my study in the university. Even though I have known her for a year as my dorm mate, I know several of her personalities. Moreover, Aisya had ever shared about the job life that she wants for her career as being free. Here are the recommendation for Aisya from my own perspective.

My recommendation is going to be internal auditor. Why? I personally believe that the responsible and critical person is good enough to become an internal auditor. Since internal auditor requires critical person to observe and evaluate the problems that sometimes being hidden. When the problems occur, I think she can handle it until the problems are discovered and solved, because she always stays up until more than midnight in order to finishing the tasks. I believe Aisya will put much effort as usual like she does in every assignment she has. This is I refer as her responsible and hard worker character towards her job.

As an internal auditor, woman will be more free since for man auditor is more likely to be assigned to go overseas. This offer may be interesting for Aisya. Moreover, Aisya is often to work in team, which means she shall be having no problem if she works as internal auditor. Additionally, up to now she already achieved a good grade for accounting bachelor degree which is including auditing which may support her career as being internal auditor. However, I still do not know what certifications or any additional discipline subjects that she is going to take in the future. Thus, internal auditor may be suitable for her because it offers less knowledge than external auditor, that only for specific industry in the company that Aisya will work for.

Careers are so varied nowadays for woman. Selecting career may hard for some people because we need to match between our interests, the requirements and the responsibilities of the ideal job we have dreamed. Therefore by some reasons that I stated above, I suggest my friend, Aisya, to become internal auditor in the future. Hopefully, Aisya will consider my recommendation, if not, it is up to Aisya as long as it makes her enjoy in building her career.

#MostPreferableToDo

Having university life which exhausting and quite boring triggers me to have high intention to go home. Especially for doing some activities that I love but I may not be able doing at dormitory -the place I most spend my time. Here are what the most preferable to do(s) in my own version:

#1: Read! Read! Read!

Books! A word describe many things inside of them. I should admit that I don’t have many books such as novels and textbooks on my bookshelf but I can ensure 90% of them are read. Fiction books entertain me with their magical stories and even sometimes bring me to the world that I have never imagined before. Carrying us to other place that my own foots may never have chance to touch down there. In other words, seems like they invite us to have an adventure. Not only fiction but also, as I have grown up, books that contains any motivation may challenge me to have better step forward.  Life goes unpredictably, in consequence occurring people become demotivated, as simple as when the laziness is suddenly passed by, we never realize that we need to have motivation. External motivation can be taken from the book I read, for me especially. In addition, when I need a books I also check the New York Times Bestseller just to get know what thebooks that are being hyped. If I am interested, I will go buy them. Last, if you guys have goodreads account, kindly follow me then! xx (goodreads: aktivaninaza)

#2: Painting is never going to be wrong.

Spending free times by the most favourite things to do is like a kid eats a sweet lollipop. Heaven! Most of long holiday are always often spent by painting as my favourite one. I love paintings! I was starting to love painting in my last year in senior high school. I have my own taste and perspective for the painting I love which adopts imperialism that usually is oil painting. The technics applied is almost looked like an abstract but they still have meaning if we look at carefully. When I am in the mood and having idea to paint, I never wait to have my brushes on the white canvas. I can be directly going to book store in 1-2 hours later just to spend my money on new canvas after I have intention to do so. And right now, I already had some brushes for certain purposes and some colours for some technics. You guys are true, I am on my way in learning to paint as well anyway. I always curious to have a magnifying painting like some artist did which supports me to not to stop practicing.

#3: I am Flower-ing!

Next, taking care of flowers, who does not be excited? When I get home for the weekend, sometimes I go to flowers store to buy a little bouquet of flowers. I love the flowers around me, either on my room or outside my room. I have some flowers in the pots that I always take care of. They are placed in the back of my room which I can look at them when my windows are open. I hope that I will enlarge my desires to like gardening. In the future, I wish I have my own flowers store for my little business. When the passion meets the business, I believe the happiness can earn money.
